Following the great experience of 2019 edition with guests as Moses Boyd and Jameszoo, Italian festival SPARKS will happen again in 2020 from August 28th to 29th at Parco Grotte in Putignano. They revealed the three first names of the lineup: Dutch collective The Mauskovic Dance Band which combines elements of cumbia, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, & space disco in equal measure to create a unique hypnotic groove. They will play on August 28th.

The day after there will be Angolan-born, Lisbon-based producer Rogério Brandão aka DJ Nigga Fox, and Tunisian producer Deena Abdelwahed which released her first album Khonnar in 2018. Back in 2020, she released a new EP titled Dhakar which is out now via InFiné Music. According to the press release, Tunisian leftfield experimentalist Deena Abdelwahed returns with an EP that ‘s taking her message back to the dancefloor.

Straying away from personal identification, these tracks keep on focusing on sonic influences from her home region, be it in terms of rhythmic structure, sampling or other local sources. A highly versatile package for any forward-thinking DJ and further proof of this producer ‘s unique ability to fuse Arabic music references with club music.
