Gabríel Ólafs is a Icelandic pianist and composer. At just 19, the composer and pianist wowed viewers and a live audience on Icelandic TV during his first ever live performance, where he was discovered by Björk’s manager Derek Birkett. Back in 2019, he released the first full-length Absent Minded.

He returns with his stripped-back yet beautifully intricate Piano Works, a collection of reimagined arrangements released as part of an ambitious deconstructive series by One Little Indian Records. It will be out on June 26th. We already shared “Birta“; “Mosi” is the new excerpt. He explains:

“Mosi is a track that was born in the studio the night we recorded the album – the title is the Icelandic word for moss, which we have a lot of. There are many stories told about the thousand year old moss and this song is one of them.”
