Slow Dress are the Louis-based duo comprised of Katie Solomon and Bredon Jones. They met at an open mic night at the Lizard Lounge in Boston, where Jones was immediately drawn to Solomon’s voice and asked to join her band at the time, Jakals. Playing together for the next three years to regional acclaim, Jakals dissolved in 2019 and the duo partially decamped to St. Louis to be closer to family and restart their creative partnership.
“Stew” is their debut track which shows the ethereal female vocals and the delicacy of the sound. “The song title refers to an amalgamation of all the experiences of one’s life,” says Solomon. “I had this idea that what if when you die, you just relive all of the experiences you’ve had over and over and that’s what death is. I was thinking about all the ways people numb themselves by shopping, taking drugs, and just doing the same repetitive things… I don’t want to be a zombie plodding through life like that. I don’t want to die wishing I had lived more fully.”
