Two years after Ensen, Tunisian-born/New York-based experimental singer-songwriter Emel Mathlouthi released a new album in 2019. Everywhere We Looked Was Burning is out via Partisan Records. She shared a new video for the track “M’errouh (From the soul)“. It was directed by herself.
Speaking about the track, Emel explains: “It is the song of the apocalypse, pointing at the horizon. The song of the tragic exodus of millions of people across the planet, escaping the fatal menace: Capitalism. Nature becomes another character in the story, that at turns transforms into a villain that’s coming after us for revenge, for all the harm we’ve been doing to it.”
