Matt Evans is a Brooklyn based musician, known also for his collaborative projects as Tigue, Bearthoven, Man Forever and Private Elevators. He announced the release of his first solo full-length. New Topographics is out on April 17th via Ben Seratan’s new label, Whatever’s Clever. According to the press release, it is an aqueous collection of drum driven, ambient adjacent, hypnotic soundscapes that radiate from a liminal zone between the physical and the digital.

He collages the sounds of writing, typing, morse code and others— swirling sonic byproducts from our communication systems— with percussive improvisations and synthesized “creatures” to trace imagined landscapes in a sea of noise. Synthetics and acoustics cross currents, unifying rubbery harmonies, wandering melodies, and incidental noises into a dreamy cybernetic ecology. “Cold Moon” is the first excerpt.
