She announced the release of her debut EP titled After Hours which will be out in April. She also shared a new video for the track “Careless“. She says: “Careless is about realising that someone that you are invested in really isn’t serving you. I was with someone who was saying all the right things but their actions didn’t match up. The song was written as things were ending and I was reflecting on it.”
Today we share a playlist with 5 influential tracks which had an important role for her music. Check it below after the video.
Fatima – Dang. Fatima stamps her own sounds and this has a really funky vibe. I love every element of thing song.
Budgie – Want 2 love u. I’m heavily inspired by 80s funk soul disco and this track really channels that. This song has a real feel good power ballad feel. It inspired me to make more happy love songs which I tend to shy away from.
Teedra Moses – Be Your Girl. This song is so simple but it just never gets old, I’ve always got to sing along.
Yussef Kamal – Strings of Light. The London jazz scene has really popped off and this track epitomises that for me, I love the progression throughout.”
Erykah Badu – Tyrone. Erica Badu’s frank lyricism and warm, funky feels has been an inspiration for me. There’s so much feeling in her voice it’s powerful.
