Ilyia is a Los Angeles based songwriter and composer. She announced the release of a new eponymous EP which will be out later this year via Rhodium Publishing. According to the press release, Her music is centered around acoustic guitar. The music is characterized by layers of guitar lines, finger-picking, and winding contemplative melodies.
Today we have the pleasure to premiere a new track titled “Viento” which shows the minimal lines of her music and the fluid and delicate flow of the sound. In Ilyia’s own words,“I drew inspiration for this song from my frequent walks near my home in the foothills of the Santa Monica Mountains.
The area had been recovering and showing the first signs of new growth after being devastated by wildfires. I remember walking along an ash-covered path when one of the first storms of the rainy season rolled in. I felt the anticipation of knowing the wind I felt would soon usher in the rain, bringing restoration and new life to the landscape once again. I felt hope as I felt the wind, (“viento,” in Spanish), and went home shortly after the rain began to play what I had felt on my walk that day.”
