Chassol is a French composer and producer, also known for his collaborations with Frank Ocean (to write on ‘Blonde’, following a tip off from Diplo) and Solange (for who he produced several tracks on ‘When I Get Home’, after she Shazam-ed his music at an installation).

He announced the release of a new solo full-length. Ludi is out on March 6th via Bertrand Bergalat’s cult Tricatel. According to the press release, it is an ambitious, experimental project spanning a double album, a feature film and live show, the record was created using Chassol’s own ‘ultrascore’ approach, in which (inspired by Steve Reich) vocal and ambient sounds from video footage are harmonised in perfect sync to create a living, breathing soundtrack.

Watch the official video for the track “Rollercoaster Pt.1 & 2“. It was directed by himself. Speaking about the making of the video Chassol says; “We first tried to get on the ride with our sound engineer wearing a big black trench hiding his mics, but were instantly kicked off by security….so my cousin & I went back 2 days later with a hidden GoPro and were able to do 2 rides before they saw us filming on their cameras….They chased us for 10 mins after that….but didn’t get us….that was epic. As for the music, I wanted to pay homage to The Cure’s ‘Jumping Someone Else’s Train’ and its video clip of a rail road filmed backwards from the rear of a train.”
