We asked to different musicians, producers, bloggers, journalists, label owners to make a short list of their best albums of this year. This is the list curated by Italian journalist Elena Raugei (Sentireascoltare, Soundwall, The New Noise).
I reflected for several days on the choice of only five records among the many listened to during this last year. To identify a common line would have been forcing. So, in the end, I chose only the ones I played the most in my free time (three international records and an Italian one, plus a soundtrack worth three). The list aligns pastoral prayers for the afterlife, blood red decadence, alt-pop futurism, rip-roaring electric spoken to keep yourself afloat, action rock dance useful also for nuns with motherfucking guns… Watch out! A new decade is upon us.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – Ghosteen (Ghosteen Ltd)
These New Puritans – Inside The Rose (Infectious)
Caroline Polachek – Pang (Columbia)
