We asked to different musicians, producers, bloggers, journalists, label owners to make a short list of their best albums of this year. This is the list curated by Italian, Treviso-based sound artist Carlo Giustini.

Blood Incarnation – Hidden History of the Human Race. Brutal metal + Aliens + Conspiracy Theories= My cup of tea. Wow these guys hit hard, play extremely well and have brought some fresh air in the thrash metal scene. Chapeau.

Alessandro Cortini – VOLUME MASSIMO. What a genius Alessandro is, and how soothing and powerful at the same time this work can be… sweet, rhythmic white noises, analog growls, I was waiting for a record like this!

Ex Eye – Ex Eye (2017). Extremely intelligent metal, wonderful dynamics all record long. Plus that saxophone is grotesque and religiously sounding. Top surprise!

Floating Points – Crush. What more can you say about Floating Points? Not much really, he’s “Just” the slickest producer out there…This record is full of overtones, analog warmness and abstract arrangements. Do we want to talk about those drums on Bias? Their complexity gives me shivers…so perfecto!

Music for sleep – People. Andrea Porcu has a capability of handling different genres with so much ease. In this 35 minutes composition he explores the possibilities of infinite tape looping. This record has a deep melancholia that speaks right to my eras, so haunting and delicate. BRAVO!
