A few days ago we introduced Cedric Vermue, a Dutch composer and producer. After graduating from Utrecht Conservatory of Music in 2018, he started an intensive studio project: writing and recording two albums in association with various string players and producer Antal van Nie. Now he announced the release of the debut album Left Upon Us which will be out in two days, on November 15th via Piano and Coffee Records. Pre order here.
According to the press release, it is ,an amalgam of serene piano passages, captivating electronic elements, and subtle soundscapes, as you can listen in the first excerpt “We Came and Left“. The release of Vermue’s debut album is accompanied by a tour around various cities in The Netherlands and Germany, including shows in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Potsdam, and Berlin.
Today we are glad to share an exclusive mixtape which is an introduction to some of the artists and works that inspired Cedric to create his debut album Left Upon Us.
Ranging from acoustic piano pieces to ambient electronic tracks, this mix features songs he fell in love with years ago, and other recent discoveries that became personal inspiration material. It includes some old forgotten gems like Hommage, a beautiful string piece from Patrick Watson’s album Wooden Arms; and a2, taken from the first ever collaboration between Nils Frahm and Olafur Arnalds.
