Christopher Tignor is an American composer and violinist. According to the press release, instead of a world of programmed devices, Tignor reclaims today’s digital abstractions as an expressive force that always begins with musical gesture: through the violin and percussion. This charges the music with an expressive capability with a personality of its own. In his “down time”, Tignor is a senior software engineer at Google, and recently completed his PhD in Composition at Princeton as well.

Three years after Along A Vanishing Plane, he announced the release of a new solo album. A Light Below is out tomorrow via Western Vinyl. “The Resonance Canons” is the first excerpt. He’ll also be opening for This Will Destroy You throughout November, and playing National Sawdust on 10/18 with Benoit Pioulard and Julia Kent for his album release show in NY (where he recently opened for Low as well).
