Silver Pools are the Toronto based trio which include Todd Macdonald (Vocals, Electronics & Mandolin), Miranda Crabtree (Keyboards & Vocals) and Adrienne Mclaren (Bass Guitar). Their debut album Memoirs of an Oblong Sphere was released in 2016. Now they’re back with a new track titled “A Kiss for the Swimmer” which shows liquid electronic lines, dreamy vibes and refined psychedelic textures. Today we have the pleasure to premiere the official video directed by band memeber Adrienne McLaren.

Todd Macdonald says about the track: “Inspired by Homer’s Odyssey, Cat Power and the song “Sexus Plexus Nexus” by the inimitable Pierre Kwenders, “A Kiss for the Swimmer” blows a kiss goodbye to friends or lovers who seem so giving and warm but become manipulative and abusive once they have gained your trust.

The song started with a backwards and slowed down sample of a synth part from our first album, Memoirs of an Oblong Sphere. For the recording of “A Kiss for the Swimmer” we ran Miranda’s vocals through a mid-1930’s bubble machine, mic’d Adrienne’s bass amp with a fleece mitten and I strummed my trusty electric mandolin while our drum machine played along.”
