The Quiet Temple is a collective grounded with Soulsaver’s Rich Machin and multi-instrumentalist Duke Garwood, and featuring a revolving cast of members from Stereolab, Spiritualized, and Julian Cope. Self-titled debut album is out on July 5th via Wichita Recordings. It is self-described as their “experimental cosmic-psyche-jazz-Krautrock-post-punk-dub record”.

The Last Opium Den (On Earth)” is the first excerpt which shows a dark, night mood and the rough, jazzy lines of the sound. “One of the big things I wanted to achieve with this record was breaking away from things being super planned out,”¬†Machin explains.¬†“To actually just go into a studio without having everything mapped out in advance. And being comfortable enough to see what happens. It was incredibly stressful at first, but once you realise it works it’s actually a really nice way to work.”
