We asked to different musicians, producers, bloggers, journalists, label owners to make a short list of their best albums of this year. This is the list curated by Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Steve Gunn.
Sarah Davachi – Let Night Come On Bells End The Day (Recital)
On reapeat on various car rides & at home. The perfect synthesis of electronics and piano. I look forward to hearing her new music soon.
This was the record of my summer. Listening now in winter helps me remember what it was like to have my windows open. This record has a breezy, low fi, timeless sound to it. We lost a great one this year. RIP Yuzo!
The song ‘Texas’ from this album is my favorite song of the year. I think Jennifer Castle is one of the best songwriters around. Her voice is from another time – carrying all of this wisdom along with it.
Two musicians I greatly admire, getting together and making a wonderful record of harp, guitar and voice. A soundtrack that will stay with me for a long time.
The sum of three hardworking, generous and immensely talented musicians – making relevant and lovely music. A very inspiring album.
