We asked to different musicians, producers, bloggers, journalists, label owners to make a short list of their best albums of this year. This is the list curated by Spanish singer-songwriter Odina.

Matt Maltese – Bad Contestant

Without doubt some of my favorite lyrics of 2018 would be in this album, there are many but one of my highlights would be “you’re the final wartime piece of bread”. This is one to listen to late at night (or early in the morning).

Rae Morris – Someone Out There

With a mixture of more delicate pieces, the incredible piano ballad that is ‘Someone Out There’ and some of my favorite pop songs of the year (‘Do It’, or ‘Reborn’), this album is definitely a highlight of my 2018.

Haley Heynderickx – I Need to Start a Garden

In its simplicity this album has managed to make me feel some deep and complex emotions. Heynderickx’s songwriting and storytelling is not only effective but also incredibly beautiful.

Rosalia – El Mal Querer

As a Spanish artist, I couldn’t be more proud of Rosalia and of everything she has achieved with this album. But even if she hadn’t achieved any of these things, I would still consider this album somewhat of a masterpiece for its sound: because it doesn’t sound like anything I’ve heard before, and it still couldn’t sound more familiar in many ways.

Adrienne Lenker  abysskyss

This is a gift to any Big Thief fan like me, but it is also special and very unique on its own. In its intimacy and fragility this album has a magical sound.
