JOBS are a Brooklyn-based quartet which include drummer Max Jaffe, bassist Rob Lundberg, guitarist and singer Dave Scanlon and Jessica Pavone. Three years after Killer BOB Sings, they released a new album titled Log On For The Free Chance To Log On For Free which is out via Philadelphia-based label Ramp Local. We have the pleasure to premiere the official video for the track “GIFs” which shows the intense and fragile vocals and the minimal dynamic rhythms with an experimental attitude. It is directed by band member Rob Lundberg. Check also the full streaming of the album via Bandcamp.

Dave Scanlon about the track: “GIFs” as a song is a piece of information/content that we share with people through performance (shows), recorded sounds (its recorded version on “Log On For The Free Chance To Log On For Free”), and its audiovisual manifestation available on YouTube and other internet platforms. JOBS feels that this song should be shared and cataloged. “GIFs” as a song explores the other content that we decide not to share or are unable to share. Perhaps there are numerous times when it may be better not to create content. We are usually without GIFs/gifts to share“.

Rob Lundberg about the video: It explores gestural/body/nonverbal communication, which as Dave alluded to, is potentially unable to be shared effectively, especially in a digital space. The rock face in the background functions similar, communicating nonverbal geologic information about water and wind flows, as well as prior human engagement with the site“.
