Majken is an interesting Swedish Karlskrona born singer-songwriter. She announced the release of her debut album which will be out in Autumn via Kollektivet Records. It explores themes of teenage desire, uncertainly of the heart and mental health, experienced from both sides. The album was recorded at her home in Malmo with Damon Tutunjian (Mew, Swirlies).
“Lovely Daughter” is the first excerpt that shows her warm and scratchy vocals and the minimal sound. It was recorded through a built-in laptop mic using “Harp” – the sound that sounded least terrible in her sound library. “I just liked the softness of it together with the sad and sloppy guitar,” she says, “before I learnt to play it, all my early demos are drenched in that MIDI harp.”
