Last year we introduced Johanna Amelie, an interesting Berlin-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, and her debut track “Lion Babe”. She announced the release of the debut album Distance, out later this year. It is co-produced by Gordon Raphael (The Strokes). “Palermo” is a new track. She said about it:

This song is a declaration of love to the city of Palermo. I wrote this song when I was touring Sicily for the first time. I was deeply inspired by the whole atmosphere, the spirit of the island and it’s deep soul. The song is about the romantic idea of a spontaneous escape and a new beginning. It took me more than a year to finish the production of this song. I recorded around 15 different versions with different arrangements – only to decide that I actually like the original demo version best. My bandmate Matze Pröllochs played the percussion orchestra on this song and Gordon Raphael mixed it in Berlin.
