Today has been released, via Deutsche Grammophon, the last work of the german-born UK-based neoclassical composer Max Ritcher. The album, titled Three Worlds: Music From Woolf Works, contains the music written for a ballet produced by Wayne McGregor and inspired to three Virginia Woolf’s novels: Mrs Dalloway, Orlando and The Waves. The score has been described as “a vast palette of sounds—from solo instrumental and orchestral episodes, to electronic textures and music for wordless soprano” and it contains also some rare 1937 BBC recordings of Woolf’s voice.
