2016 is over. It’s time to move forward. This is our list of 25 new upcoming albums that will be released in 2017: Clap!Clap!, Bonobo, Piano Magic, Six Organs of Admittance and more.


Bonobo. Three years later The North Borders, British musician and producer Bonobo has announced the release of a new album. Migration will be out on January 13th via Ninja Tune. It features Rhye, Nick Murphy (fka Chet Faker) and more. We already shared “Kerala”; “Break Apart” is the new excerpt. Watch the official video directed by Neil Krug.

High Plains. High Plains is the collaborative project between Canadian musician Loscil (Scott Morgan) and American cellist Mark Bridges. Cinderland is their debut album that will be out on March 17th via Kranky. Title-track is the first excerpt. Listen below.

Peter Silberman. Peter Silberman is the founder of New York-based band The Antlers. He has announced the release of a solo album. Impermanence will be out on February 24th via Transgressive Records. “Karuna” is the first excerpt available for streaming.

Clap! Clap!. Two years later debut album Tayi Bebba, Italian producer Cristiano Crisci aka Clap! Clap! has announced the release of a new LP. A Thousand Skies will be out on February 2017 via Black Acre. It features South African singer Bongeziwe Mabandla, Berlin-based duo OY, Italian beatmaker HDADD, and South African band (and Planet Mu signees) John Wizards. “Nguwe” is the new excerpt. Oiseaux-Tempête. Two years later ÜTOPIYA?Oiseaux-Tempête (Frédéric D. Oberland, Stéphane Pigneul) have announced the release of their that will be out on March 2017 via Sub Rosa. It features Paul Régimbeau (Mondkopf, Autrenoir), G.W.Sok (The Ex, Cannibales & Vahinés), Charbel Haber (SCRAMBLED EGGS, The Bunny Tylers), Sharif Sehnaoui (KARKHANA), Sylvain Joasson (Mendelson), Abed Kobeissy & Ali El Hout (Two Or The Dragon), Tamer Abu Ghazaleh, Stéphane Rives, Youmna Saba, Pascal Semerdjian (Postcards), Pierre-Georges Desenfant (Blackthread). Pick A Piper. Three years later self-titled debut album, Canadian project Pick A Piper aka Brad Weber (known for his work with Caribou) announces new album. Distance will be out via Tin Angel Records on March 3rd, 2017. “Geographically Opposed” is the first excerpt that features  New Zealander Introversed Dancefloor aka Bevan Smith. Hugo LX. Hugo LX is the moniker of French producer Hugo Lascoux. Akegata is the first album that will be out on February 3rd via Nowdays Records. Inspired by Japan and foreign musics, this album is the tale of a 5 years trip around the world and across the different music genders played by Hugo LX (House, Beatmaking, world music and more…).  “Doma” is the first excerpt that features Nia Andres’ vocals and show the delicate and refined sound. Meat Wave. One year later Delusion Moon, Chicago-based band Meat Wave (Chris Sutter, Joe Gac and Ryan Wizniak) have announced a new album tha will be out in 2017 via Big Scary Monsters in the UK and Europe. “The Incessant” is the first excerpt. Listen below.

Palberta. Palberta is the New York-based project that includes Anina Ivry-Block, Lily Konigsberg, Nina Ryser. One year later collaboration with No One And The Somebodies, they will release a new album. Bye Bye Berta will be out on February 10th via Wharf Cat and Ramp Local. Joshua Sabin. Scottish sound artist Joshua Sabin has announced the sign with Subtext and the release of a new album. Terminus Drift will be out on February 17, 2017 and it features field recordings of transit systems while traveling through Kyoto, Berlin and Tokyo. “Vitro” is the first excerpt available for streaming. Piano magic. Four years later Life Has Not Finished With Me Yet, Piano Magic have announced the release of a new (and final) album. Closure will be formally released by Second Language Music on January 20th 2017 worldwide on CD, 180gm vinyl and digital download formats. “Attention To Life” is the first excerpt. Kid Koala. Canadian musician and producer Kid Koala (aka Eric San) has announced the release of Music To Draw To: Satellite, an ambient electronic record featuring vocals by Icelandic singer Emilíana Torrini.  It will be released January 20, 2017 on Arts & Crafts. “The Observable Universe” is the first excerpt available. Hand Habits is the project of guitarist and singer-songwriter Meg Duffy. Wildly Idle (Humble Before The Void) is the debut album and it will be out on February 10th via Woodsist. “Flower Glass” is the new excerpt that shows evocative vocals and the gentle charming sound with dreamy connections. SOHN. Two years later debut album Tremors, British musician, songwriter and producer SOHN (Christopher Taylor) has announced the release of a new album. Rennen will be out on January 13th via 4AD. We already shared “Signal”; title-track is the new excerpt. Listen below.

Six Organs of Admittance. One year later Hexadic I & II (Drag City, 2015), Six Organs of Admittance aka Ben Chasny returns with a new album. Burning The Threshold will be out on February 24th, 2017 via Drag City. “Taken By Ascent” is the first excerpt. Listen below.

Cesare Basile. One year later Tu Prenditi L’Amore Che Vuoi E Non Chiederlo Più, Italian singer-songwriter Cesare Basile has announced the release of a new album. U fujutu su nesce chi fa? will be out on February 24th via Urtovox. “Lijatura” is the first excerpt. Listen below.

Egyptrixx . One year later Transfer of Energy, Canadian Toronto-based producer Egyptrixx (David Psutka) has announced his fourth studio album. Pure, Beyond Reproach will be out on February 3rd 2017 via Halocline Trance. “Lake Of Contemplation Pool Of Fundamental Bond” is the impressive first excerpt. Three years later Olympia, Canadian project Austra (led by Katie Stelmanis) returns with a  new album. Third record Future Politics will be out on January 20th, 2017 via Domino. We already shared “Utopia”;  “Future Politics” is the new excerpt. Watch the official video below.

Luca D’Alberto. Luca D’Alberto is an Italian composer, arranger & performer that we know also for collaborations with Umberto Palazzo, Paolo Saporiti, director Wim Wender and more. Endless is the new album that will be out in 2017 via newly-formed, Berlin-based, neo-classical imprint 7K!. “Wait For Me” is the first excerpt. Listen below.

Braxton Cook. Braxton Cook is a Washington-based alto saxophonist and songwriter. He has performed alongside Wynton Marsalis, Jon Batiste and has toured the world many times over with Grammy Nominated Trumpeter Christian Scott. He will release debut solo album in 2017. “Somewhere in Between” is the first excerpt. His words about the track “The over arching concept behind this song is about finding your own lane and trusting in it. It’s about finding yourself and not conforming to the pressures around us. For me, my sound and musical identity has always been in between the soul music that I grew up on and the jazz that I have studied and grown to love. So I wrote this song to say, that it’s okay to be a little different. We should embrace our uniqueness and own it. ” Watch the official video below.

Ibibio Sound Machine. Two years later self-titled debut album, Ibibio Sound Machine have announced the release of a new one. Uyai will be out on March 3rd via Merge. The full lineup of the band consists of Eno Williams (vocals), Alfred Bannerman (guitar), Anselmo Netto (percussion), Leon Brichard (bass/synth), Benji Bouton (Drums, Keyboard / Album), Jose Joyette (Drums / Live ) Max Grunhard (alto sax), Tony Hayden (trombone/synth), Scott Baylis (trumpet) & Ben Hadwen (baritone sax). “The Pot Is On Fire” is the first excerpt. Kangding Ray. One year later Cory Arcane, Berlin-based musician and electronic producer Kangding Ray (aka David Letellier) has announced the release of a new album. Hyper Opal Mantis will be out on February 24th via Lucy’s Stroboscopic Artefacts. “Epsilon” is the first excerpt. Listen below.

Tiger!Shit!Tiger!Tiger! . Three years later Twins, Italian Foligno-based band Tiger!Shit!Tiger!Tiger! have announced the release of a new album. Corners will be out on January 2017 via To Lose La Track records, Audioglobe, Disk Union Japan, Miacameretta. The band will play in Austin at SXSW 2017. “Weird Times” is the first excerpt. Laura Marling. Two years later Shor Movie, British singer-songwriter Laura Marling hasa nnounced the release of a new album. Semper Femina will be out on March 10th, 2017 via Alarming Records. “Soothing” is the first excerpt available for streaming. Listen below.

Kan Wakan. Two years later debut album Moving On, the LA-based Bulgarian-born musician producer, film composer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Kan Wakan aka Gueorgui Linev returns with his sophomore. Uniform. One year later Perfect World, New York-based duo Uniform aka Michael Berdan (ex-Drunkdriver, York Factory Complaint) and Ben Greenberg (ex-The Men, Hubble) return with a new album. Moon Duo. One year later Shadow of the Sun, Portland-based duo Moon Duo have announced the release of two new concept albums. The first one titled Occult Architecture Vol. 1 will be out on February 3rd, 2017 via Sacred Bones.  We already shared “Cold Fear”; “Creepin” is the new excerpt. Listen below.

Jenn Grant. Two years later Compostela, Canadian singer-songwriter and musician Jenn Grant has announced the release of a new album. Paradise will be ou on March 3rd, 2017 via Ba Da Bing Records. “Galaxies” is the first excerpt available for streaming. Listen below.

Cancer. Two years ago we introduced Danish duo Cancer that involves Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild (When Saints Go Machine) and Kristian Finne Kristensen (Chorus Grant). The Sly Persuaders. The Sly Persuaders is the South London based band that includes Christopher Blake (Vocals/Guitar), Danny Billingham (Bass/Vocals), Lee ‘Halloween’ Coxon (Guitar/Organ/Vocals/Percussion) and Alex Bone (Drums/Vocals/Percussion).
